Staircase handrails are typically constructed with an extruded brass handrail and cast bronze banisters or decorative infill panels, but the infill could also be wrought ironwork or glass.

Quality

Whilst we are happy to supply all types of cast balustrading the nature of our service is targeted towards high quality Bronze cast projects where exacting specifications are stipulated, for example, where building Regulations state that the balustrading must match exactly the existing balustrading, a typical requirement for listed buildings including stately homes and public estates..

History

Bronze was a commonly specified material in the 18th and 19th centuaries due to its ease of forming and was commonly used across all types of buildings from stateley homes, courts, libraries through to private homes, factories and as street furniture. Bronze started to become less preferable during the 20th century once high grade steels, including stainless steel became easier to manufacture. Today, Bronze is only used for specific reasons, such as architeectural consistency or because of its aesthetic qualities.

Contemporary Architecture

Contemporary architecture still has place for bronze, whether its for its historic relevence or because its suits an artistic theme. Bronze balustrading can be made to suit any specification, including abstract designs, mixed colours and materials or for a classic vintage effect. Bronze is not relegated to the stately home or public office, but has a rightful place in all new deign concepts.
