Architectural Metalwork

Case Studies - Staircases - Contemporary

Title: Staircases - Contemporary.
Client: Private House.
Architect: Hackett Hall McKight.
Type of works: Bronze Handrail.

This balustrade is a good example of a simple design manufactured and installed with attention to detail.

The architect's concept and design detail has been realised using five different 'bronze alloys'. Each being used to achieve a particular feature due to their inherent properties.

The sloping handrail was cast from bronze using a wooden pattern due to the non standard section.

Once the fabrication and installation were complete all the different alloys had a medium bronze patination applied to give an even colour and surface finish.

The design and finish will change but the attention to detail does not.
